The Competition!

Today we found 71 cents and 31 bottles and cans.

Continuing on the theme from yesterday, but with a slight twist, are the interesting characters we see in our travels on walks and bike rides. The picture above is that of a person we lovingly call the “Bike Lady”. This older woman rides her bike around Springvale and Sanford each day while the weather is good collecting up cans and bottles. She’s an interesting person and doesn’t attempt to hide her craft from the viewing public. I saw her this morning riding up by the house (unusual), and on her back by I snapped a photo. As you can see, she’s hard at work on a beautiful August day. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t find too many returnables. We keep our turf pretty neat and tidy!

Well, enough of the competition talk, now on our coin finding fares. Michele found 3 pennies on her walk with Lexi this morning. I didn’t get the details on where she found them though. The evening walk produced 27 cents, a quarter and penny on Main and one penny at Springvale Hardware. I found the rest the of the loot at the 7-11 during a late night bike ride in to town, 41 cents worth in the form of a quarter, a dime and 4 pennies. 2 additional pennies came from the Rite Aid parking as well on my way home.
