The Push Forward....

Hello to all of my fellow change hunters out there and all who follow this blog. As you may of noticed, blog updates have been a little scarce of late. However, as of tonight, things will start returning to normal. During the last few days we’ve been up in Millinocket attending Michele’s father’s wake and funeral. He was a very well respected individual, both as a family man, and as a strong influence within the community. His long service in the school system as a teacher and principal speaks for itself, and his tireless efforts volunteering to those in need touched the hearts of many. You only had to be present at the church service to see the many lives he affected. He was 78.

While returning home during the 4 hour trek, we reminisced about the candid moments with him, and how special a person he was to all of us. He treated everyone equally, and without bias, and he loved the outdoors. It’s no wonder he chose an area that was rich in those things that he enjoyed. If you ever have a chance to visit Mt. Katahdin I would highly recommend it. It is truly a paradise (see picture). Vaughn loved it and so do we.

Money update – This entry will cover the last three days. Things have been slowly ramping up in regards to our change finding. To say we felt a bit numb all over might not be quite doing it justice. Let’s just say we really didn’t have the get-up-and-go that we had prior to all this. Nevertheless, we’ve put on our best faces to continue the saga of that which we have started.

Tuesday – we didn’t find any change or any bottles and really didn’t focus on it.

Wednesday – We found 27 cents in change and 12 bottles and cans.

On our way home we found 10 cents at an Irving gas station while filling up. Then, at the Burger King in Newport we snagged a penny. The rest of the coins came via the evening walk. Lexi had been in the house all day so we decided to take her for a walk and get her some exercise. All of our finds came from one place, the car wash. We picked up 17 cents in the form of 1 dime and 7 pennies.

Thursday – this was really our first normal day. We found 71 cents in change and 23 bottles and cans.

Michele was able to pick up 4 pennies on her walk this morning with Lexi. Next, on my run, I found one cent on Allen Street. The evening walk netted us another 66 cents. We found 2 cents in the rite aid parking lot and one cent on Mill. Then at the car wash we recovered another 61 cents (1 quarter, 3 dimes and 6 pennies). Most of the coins were scattered on the ground throughout the vacuum stations, but we did also find a few coins on the ground in the self-serve bays, too. The final 2 pennies were found in the 7-11 parking lot.

Good Night and Good Hunting!
