It’s A Cap Attack!
Today we found 35 cents in change and 85 bottles and cans.
Saturday morning came early for Michele as the girl’s softball team she coaches; along with the boy’s baseball team had a bottle drive today. In a 6-hour period the gang did 1,500 and the proceeds will be used to buy warm-ups for team, or at least contribute to it. The one benefit we got out of it was ton of caps, just look at the mess of them. There’s everything from dr. pepper to coke to the pepsi and dew free ride promotions currently wrapping up or in progress. Looks like I’ll be entering codes for quite some time!
Money Report – Coins were a little hard to come by today. Michele found 3 tokens on her walk this morning before the bottle run. They’re all from the fifth wheel, which is an xxx spot. Looks like someone has a fetish for peep shows, lol. Now showing, Debbie Does Dallas and Texas Long Horn! Our first coin finds of the day though came on the run. Michele found one penny on Sherburne and I found 2 on Bridge Street right next to the social club.
On the evening walk we scored 24 cents (1 dime, 2 nickels and 4 pennies) at the high school. All the finds were out in front of the building. Some we on the ground near the parking areas and the remainder were near the front entrance of the school. We also picked up 3 pennies in the rite aid parking lot and 4 cents at the car wash. Michele found the final penny earlier in the day during the bottle run to round out the scoring.
On a personal note – I’m glad UCLA is out! In my opinion they were the luckiest final four team I’ve ever seen. Pittsburgh and Kansas both should have beat them but they just couldn’t finish their shots. Florida did tonight and gave them an awful whipping! Oh, and as far as my bracket update, I had Kansas winning it all so I’m dead. Bummer….
Good Night and Good Hunting!

Don't forget that IU really could have beaten UCLA also! If Stemler could have just thrown the ball in! Ugh.
As for the caps, that is an AMAZING amount of caps. Chris and I picked up a bunch of those Coke caps at Astros games last year.
But just an FYI, the Coke caps will sell on eBay. Not for that much money, but normally a lot of 20 will sell for about $0.99. But at one time Chris was selling lots of 200 for about $20, so I would look into it!
Hi Bailey, yes, you're right, IU should have beat UCLA, too! The bruins stink if you asked me.
As far as the coke caps go, I've been entering codes for a while now. It's another benefit from the gathering of bottles and cans in addition to 5 cent refund. I was talking with Chris a while back and he also mentioned it. So far we've redeemed 1400 points for a nice sony dvd which I mentioned in an entry some time ago, but coke has extended the rewards program through 2007 and into early 2008. Looks like I'll be entering caps codes for quite some time.
Best,
Jim
